Overview

In September 2021, following an outbreak of rabies in an African wild dog population – one of the worlds most endangered mammals - Mission Rabies worked in collaboration with the Zambian Government and Game Rangers International, to provide practical expertise, resources, and guidance to support a 2-week rabies campaign. The campaign, which took place within the Itezhi-Tezhi District, saw the team administer almost 4,000 rabies vaccinations to domestic dogs to reduce the risk of transmission to vulnerable wildlife and surrounding communities, alongside visiting 14 primary schools to deliver lessons in rabies prevention.
