Level up against rabies: game for a rabies-free world

Gamers, we need you! Fundraise the fun way by organising your very own gaming fundraiser to help stop rabies for good. Join our mission by gaming to help protect both human and animal lives from this deadly disease.

If we act now, our generation could be the one to end rabies for good.

Level up against rabies: game for a rabies-free world

What is Mission Rabies:

Rabies is the world’s deadliest zoonotic disease, causing immense suffering for both humans and dogs. Once its cruel symptoms show the disease is always fatal. In many rabies endemic countries, fear of the disease can lead to hostile attitudes towards dogs, ultimately resulting in indiscriminate culling programmes.

The disease disproportionately impacts upon the world’s most disadvantaged areas, with the poorest countries in the world carrying the greatest burden. Rabies still causes the death of someone every 9 minutes, with the majority being children. With 99% of human rabies cases being caused by an infected dog bite.

We are working to change this through vaccinations, education and surveillance. We vaccinate dogs to save them from this deadly disease, educate children and communities to equip them with the crucial knowledge to protect themselves, and establish surveillance systems in rabies hotpots to respond to suspected cases.

We need your help to make this the final rabies generation.

The 9 challenge:

The challenge is to use the figure 9 in your gaming event, whether this is gaming offline or streaming, helping to highlight the devastating impact this disease has. It is completely up to you and what you think people would like to see. You could game straight for 99 minutes, set yourself a gaming challenge to complete in 9 minutes, or play a game as 9 different characters.

Who's up for a challenge?

Get involved today emailing us at fundraising@missionrabies.com and setting up a fundraising page on Tiltify – a crowdfunding platform where you can livestream through streaming sites like Twitch and YouTube.
